Summer recreational programs offered to youth and adults

Registration kicks off next week for summer youth day camps through Campus Recreation Services.

Designed to meet the needs of NAU students, faculty and staff, the half- and full-day camps offer engaging and educational activities for children in preschool through 8th grade. Scheduling aligns with NAU’s two five-week Summer Sessions: June 3 to July 3 and July 8 to Aug. 9. Registration begins Monday, April 1.

Mountain Jacks Kids Camp
Children in grades PreK to 5 can engage their mind while keeping physically active. The PreK camp is offered in the morning session only, from 7 a.m. to noon; campers in kindergarten through 5th grade may enroll in either the half-day program or for full days, from 7 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. The afternoon session was formerly called Dolphin Day Camp.

Explorers Camp
Sixth through eighth graders can explore Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff and the surrounding community through adventure and experiential education. Summer Activities Leaders and professional staff provide leadership and skills development in a fun and engaging atmosphere. Camp is held Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Half-day options and weekly enrollments also are available.

Summer Sports Leagues
Adults also can get in on the fun through the program’s summer sports leagues, open to anyone over the age of 18. Sports include indoor soccer and basketball, and special leagues for NAU faculty and staff will be available. Schedules and registration information will be posted online by April 26.
