Summer program in China offers culture amid adventure

China summer program

Students with an interest in Chinese culture and language can get a month-long taste of the Asian nation through a study-abroad program offered through Northern Arizona University.

The 2007 Summer Short-term Chinese Study Program: History and Culture of the Silk Road is a four-week program sponsored by NAU’s Center for International Education, the College of Education, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the China Center for Educational Exchange.

The program will offer tours, lectures and visits to Chinese universities. All classes and lectures will be in English, and academic credit may be available.

Thomas J. DeStefano, professor of educational psychology, will lead the tour from July 6 to Aug. 3 to Shanghai, Lanzhou, Turpan, Urumqi and Beijing.

An informational meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. Feb. 28 in Tinsley Hall. Information is available online, or contact DeStefano at (928) 523-6302, Thomas.DeStefano@nau.edu.
