Northern Arizona University saw a modest gain in summer undergraduate enrollment, but overall the number of students in Summer Sessions dipped slightly.

The dip in summer enrollment is not expected to have an impact on fall numbers. NAU administrators are expecting another record enrollment when classes start in August.

A total of 8,413 students enrolled in summer courses, down 291 students over last year, or 3.3 percent. Summer enrollment on the Flagstaff campus is up 80 students over last year to 4,129, or about 2 percent. Undergraduate enrollment for summer sessions is up 2.1 percent, an increase of 109 undergraduates over 2009. There also is an increase in the number of international students attending summer school—263 in 2010 versus 178 in 2009, about 48 percent.

Graduate student enrollment declined by about 400 students, or approximately 12 percent.
