State policies on lobbying

NAU has received a number of inquiries from faculty and staff regarding the proposed budget cuts and what individuals can do to help the universities.

While the university appreciates the enthusiasm and willingness to help, NAU employees should be aware of the state statutes and university and Arizona Board of Regents policies that prohibit lobbying on behalf of the universities on university time or using university equipment, including e-mail systems and telephones.

Nothing in the policies or statutes is intended to discourage employees in their private capacity from becoming engaged in the political process.

If you are in doubt about appropriate activity, contact your supervisor or Human Resources.
