- Eugene Hughes, NAU president emeritus, received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from Western Nebraska Community College at a ceremony held on Oct. 17. As an Outstanding Alumni recipient, Hughes will represent the college at the state level. Hughes also received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the Nebraska Community College Association at its annual November meeting in Lincoln.
- Alan A. Lew, professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Recreation, has had three books published in recent months: Tourism Geography, Understanding Tropical Coastal and Island Tourism and The Wiley-Blackwell Companion to Tourism.
