  • Rebecca Garrison, associate professor of sociology and social work and coordinator of NAU’s social work program, has been elected to the national nominating committee as an undergraduate director representative for the Council on Social Work Education, a nonprofit national association representing more than 3,000 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education. Garrison will serve a three-year term beginning July 1.
  • Kimberly Melhus, assistant professor in the School of Communication, recently published “Design for Aging Eyes: A Look at Outdoor Fast Food Menu Displays” in the international peer-reviewed journal, Design Principles and Practices.
  • Mary I. Dereshiwsky, professor of educational leadership, presented “Building Students’ Resiliency in Online Courses” and “Improving Your Own Online Teaching Effectiveness by Becoming An Online Student Yourself” on June 9 and 10 at the Virtual Worlds and Teaching Tools web-based conference, sponsored by the Learning Resources Network.
