Proposals sought for student environmental sustainability projects

Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit proposals for projects that support sustainability projects at Northern Arizona University or in the region.

The Hooper Student Fund Committee and the Center for Sustainable Environments will select two sustainability projects to receive up to $2,500 each to be put into action.

The proposed projects should involve NAU student research, education or activities, and should focus on outcomes or solutions that advance sustainability on campus or in the region.

On-campus projects should relate to specific areas of the NAU Campus Sustainability Plan.

Off-campus projects should clearly promote a sustainability goal that benefits northern Arizona and relates to research, education or advocacy, building upon advance work done by an institution, organization, agency or program in the region.

Two $1,500 merit awards will also be awarded to freshmen or sophomores for their commitment to pursuing careers in an environmental discipline.

The deadline to submit either a project proposal or an application for the merit award is March 1. Award notification will be made by March 15. For information and applications, visit the Center for Sustainable Environments web site or call Shelley Silbert, (928) 523-7635.
