The suns teach basketball to young attendees of the clinic

The Phoenix Suns wrapped up a weeklong training camp at Northern Arizona University today.

While in Flagstaff, the Suns community team visited several local schools and hosted a basketball clinic for more than 150 youth ages 6-17 at the Hal Jensen Recreation Center in Sunnyside.

NAU President Rita Cheng and Suns broadcaster Tom Leander welcomed families to the clinic. With the help of Suns alumni Steve Hunter and Tim Kempton, NAU men’s and women’s basketball players taught the participants various basketball skills and talked to them about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The Suns Solar Squad, Suns Gorilla and NAU’s Louie the Lumberjack also attended to assist with the clinic and helped pump up the crowd.

Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver visited the Flagstaff campus today, stopping by the W.A. Franke College of Business and the Ernest Calderón Learning Community to speak with students

The Suns open the preseason schedule against the Sacramento Kings at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Talking Stick Resort Arena in preparation for the club’s 48th NBA season.
