Kelsea Gayle Shultz, 24, an education student at Northern Arizona University, died Dec. 23, 2014.
Ms. Shultz was born in Mesa on Dec. 17, 1990, grew up in Tempe and graduated from Hudson Elementary School and McClintock High School.
She was a passionate soccer player from a young age. She played for AYSO and then for the Gilbert Soccer Club on the 91’s team, playing for them until high school graduation. She was a goalkeeper and loved nothing more than standing in that box with her gloves on. Ms. Shultz spent the next two years playing for Chandler-Gilbert Community College when she finally hung up her cleats and continued her education through NAU.
She is survived by her parents, Amy of Tempe and Spencer of Denver; grandfather John of Tempe; grandmother Kathy of Phoenix; three sisters, Kaylee (Cole) of Phoenix, KiAnna of Tempe, and Hannah of Colorado; two brothers, Kurtis, of Tempe, and Kain, of Colorado; stepmother Stacey, of Colorado; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and teammates.
