Beginning in January, the vanpool program will transport daily commuters who live at least 12 miles away from campus.
Vanpools are typically made up of seven to 15 members motivated to conserve resources. Rates vary by distance and frequency.
The Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Transportation Authority, which operates Mountain Line and Mountain Link, will oversee vRide. NAIPTA was recently awarded an Arizona Department of Transportation grant to offset some costs.
Interested commuters are encouraged to register their commute route and work hours so that vRide can begin designing transportation routes and cost estimates for riders. Vanpool groups may take up to three weeks to form after individuals submit an electronic interest form.
