The Center for Sustainable Environments, the Office of Administration and Finance and the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences have released their first Campus Sustainability Report, highlighting sustainable energy undertakings at NAU over the past year.
The 15-page report shows progress being made in making NAU a more sustainable institution through the use of high efficiency buildings, waste management and reclaimed water, among other efforts.
The report touts a number of recent successes saving the university considerable dollars while also developing it into a more sustainable institution. Using reclaimed water on campus lands last year, for example, has saved 8 million gallons of potable water for other uses. Campus recycling, a food surplus donation program and a master transportation plan are also highlighted in the report.
