The new Health and Human Services building will supplant the popular field south of Wall Aquatic Center.
However, NAU has taken steps to improve on-campus fields available for recreation and intramurals.
Two multi-field complexes are under construction on south campus. Each complex will have three artificial-turf fields and will be lighted, unlike the current field on north campus.
“We are increasing our ability to have more sports on campus,” said Jane Kuhn, associate vice president for Capital Assets. “We will be able to sweep the snow off the artificial turf and they won’t have the wear and tear that the natural turf now has.”
Additionally, each complex will have restrooms and equipment checkout and check-in facilities.
The expected completion date is late March or early April.
