Con Slobodchikoff, professor emeritus of biology, is known for interpreting the yips, barks and chirps of prairie dog populations, and he recently expanded his animal vocabulary in his latest book, Chasing Doctor Doolittle.
In his book, Slobodchikoff posits that animals communicate meaningful things to each other through language, such as how to locate food or to warn of impending danger. He recently discussed his latest book on the Diane Rehm Show on NPR.
