NAU partners with community to develop redistricting ‘toolkit’

Northern Arizona University’s Rural Policy Institute has drawn up a document that is baseline information explaining the state’s 2011 redistricting efforts.

Arizona population growth will result in a ninth congressional district, and results from the 2010 census will help the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission determine the distribution.

The Rural Policy Institute partnered with the Flagstaff Forty, the city of Flagstaff and Coconino County to create a document that would inform citizens of the redistricting process.

It is also hoped that the process will encourage individuals to become involved in civic activities, including voting.
