NAU Alert test reaches thousands

NAU alert gifA full test of Northern Arizona University’s emergency notification system was conducted this week in conjunction with the Great Arizona Shakeout, part of a worldwide earthquake preparedness drill.

NAU Alert delivered more than 11,000 text messages to subscribers and informed nearly 30,000 fans and followers on Facebook and Twitter. Email notification was sent to all faculty, staff and students, and announcements were displayed on NAU webpages.

NAU Alert is the fastest way to receive notification in the event of an emergency or campus closure. Each NAU student, faculty or staff member can sign up three phone numbers to receive alerts.

Faculty and staff who are registered for NAU Alert and did not receive text messages during the test should contact the ITS Solution Center at (928) 523-1511 or Ask-ITS@nau.edu.
