Information Technology Services (ITS) continues to prepare for the 2022 migration from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams. This Microsoft-driven initiative moves the instant messaging, telephony and online meeting functionality from Skype for Business to Teams.

As a part of the overall project, ITS will be piloting several users this spring to confirm all telephony functionality performs as expected, ensuring that all devices, whether handset, headset or computer connections, are capable of delivering the expected level of service. Additionally, ITS will incorporate call center software and enhanced 911 services into the solution. ITS will begin moving the remaining NAU telephone users to Teams at the completion of this project, which is expected to take several months.

Teams is currently available to all NAU students, faculty and staff, and its use can improve how the university community collaborates and communicates. To get started with Teams and the related Office 365 products, go to office.com and log in with your NAU credentials. From this portal you can access the Office 365 suite online, with an option to download the package on up to five devices.

To help you gain confidence in using Teams, the ITS Learning & Professional Development team is offering training on three Teams topics. Each of these one-hour sessions is available for registration today. The training schedule can be found on the ITS Professional Development Training page.

  • Intro to Teams: Learn how to participate in conversations, share files, schedule meetings and adjust notifications.
  • Using Planner in Teams: Manage your tasks and projects in Microsoft Planner.
  • Microsoft Teams Meetings & File-sharing: Dive deep into how to collaborate and co-author files in Teams, and take advantage of the many features of Teams meetings.

ITS also is asking users fill out this quick survey to share how you communicate and collaborate at NAU.
