An expert in capital planning and projects was hired this month as a temporary special assistant to the president for Capital Assets and Services.
Kathleen Schedler, who comes to NAU from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, will concentrate on capital projects at the university.
NAU has embarked on several significant capital projects in recent years and is planning for future capital needs. The raised profile of such endeavors requires that capital projects receive more focused attention, according to MJ McMahon, executive vice president.
Schedler owns her own consulting group and worked for the University of Alaska in project management for more than 20 years. She also has a background in mechanical engineering. Her appointment is expected to last no longer than December 2008.
