Hello Lumberjack family,
As we start this academic year, I am filled with a sense of hope and anticipation. It’s a time for celebration, fresh ideas and the opportunity to make transformative change in the lives of our students and our community. Together, we have the power to inspire and cultivate an environment where learning flourishes and every individual feels a sense of belonging.
Each of you brings unique talents, perspectives and lived experiences that enrich our institution. It is this diversity that creates a culture of care. I encourage you to connect with one another, share your passions and support each other in our collective pursuit of enhancing and fostering an inclusive environment. I also want you to know that you are not on this inclusive excellence journey alone. If you have any questions, the Center for Inclusive Excellence and Access is here to support you.
Let’s also keep student success at the forefront of our work. The students are our greatest motivation, and it is our responsibility to guide them, challenge them and celebrate their successes. As we challenge our students, we should also be prepared to be challenged. As we engage with students inside and outside of the classroom, let us strive to be mentors and role models, instilling in them the values of curiosity, resilience and empathy.
Our goal of enhancing and fostering an inclusive environment is always ambitious, but is an important component to enhancing our culture of care at NAU. I mentioned in my notes last year that “we are better when we work together.” Together, we will break down barriers, push boundaries and create an environment where everyone can belong and be their authentic selves. I am excited to work with all of you and see the incredible work we will accomplish this year.
Thank you for your dedication and passion to inclusive excellence, and let’s continue to connect, motivate and inspire ourselves and others as we go through this academic year.
