Financial and Human Resource Overview Training (DGT01): 1:30-3 p.m. Feb. 9, College of Health and Human Services Auditorium Room 101 or 2-3:30 p.m. Feb. 13, Student Academic Services Large Auditorium
This session is for employees who serve as the liaison for their department for tasks related to purchasing, inventory, grant management, travel or human resources. It is a 90-minute lecture with time for questions. It will provide an overview of a variety of topics that are relevant for college/department staff who are responsible for monitoring purchasing, inventory, grant spending, travel and/or hiring processes. Attendees will be directed to “deep dive” training in particular areas if they need more detailed information about a particular topic. Attendees can expect to leave the session with an understanding of:
- Purchasing requisitions, purchasing card management and monthly reconciliation
- Inventory control procedures
- Grant spending guidelines, grant-related purchases and expenditure reconciliation
- Key steps for processing travel, and managing and reconciling expenses
- Key steps for hiring employees
Student Data Deep Dive (DGT03): 9-10:30 a.m. Feb. 20, W. A. Franke Auditorium or 2:30-4 p.m. March 9, Student Academic Services Large Auditorium
This session, intended for employees who work with student data, will include a 90-minute lecture and time for questions. It will provide an explanation of the university census and cohort processes and demonstrate a variety of related student reports and dashboards online and in BusinessObjects. Attendees can expect to leave the session with an understanding of:
- Census and cohort definitions and timelines
- State and federal guidelines that govern census and cohort processing
- Online (public) census reports including degree seeking trend, enrollment highlights, all enrolled student trend, student participation activity and census class information
- Dashboards for reviewing daily enrollment activity and retention/graduation rates
- BusinessObjects reports including all plans, all enrolled headcounts and census class details
Financial Deep Dive Training (DGT02): 8:30-10 a.m. March 8, ITS Computer Lab
This session will provide thorough instruction in the areas of monitoring financial statements, completing monthly reviews/reconciliations of revenues and expenses, transferring expenses, budgeting and non-travel reimbursements. Related policies and procedures will also be covered. Attendees can expect to leave the session with an understanding of:
- Related policies and procedures
- Financial statement monitoring
- Expense management including monthly review and reconciliation processes
- Inter-departmental transfers and payroll transfers
- Budgeting
- Non-travel reimbursement processes and reconciliation
Survey Design Using Qualtrics (DGT04): 1-2:30 p.m. April 13, ITS Training Lab
This session will provide an overview of best practices for survey research, with a particular focus on the use of Qualtrics online survey software, for which NAU has purchased a campus-wide license. It is for employees who conduct surveys and wish to learn how to better design them using Qualtrics. Attendees can expect to leave the session with an understanding of:
- Benefits and drawbacks of survey research
- Guidelines for effective survey design, including question wording and ordering
- Strategies for increasing survey response rates and completion rates
- How to implement a survey using Qualtrics
- Advanced features of Qualtrics
