How you can help the earthquake victims

Haiti

The devastating earthquake in Haiti has prompted relief efforts throughout the United States. And at NAU, faculty, staff and students are asking how they can help.

Anyone can help by donating to the Red Cross and other trustworthy organizations through the White House’s web site.

Lori Poloni-Staudinger, assistant professor of politics and international affairs, has been actively supporting the Haitian orphanage les Oeuvres de la Divine Misèricorde for more than six years. She urges anyone interested in helping with efforts to rebuild the orphanage to visit its web site, www.odm-haiti.org.

Other campus efforts have included a fundraising effort by NAU’s Civic Service Institute, and a first-aid supply drive by the NAU Student Nurses Association to help the homeless and injured of Haiti.

“We can’t help but be moved by the horrific images we are seeing following that tragedy,” said NAU President John Haeger. “I applaud the efforts of the American people and our campus to help the Haitians any way we can.
