NAU’s Health and Learning Center recently was selected to receive the Association of College Unions International Facility Design Award of Excellence.

Northern Arizona University’s Health and Learning Center is earning recognition for its exceptional design elements in a student-centered space.

NAU was among seven universities around the country with buildings selected to receive the Association of College Unions International Facility Design Award of Excellence. Selection for the award is based on the overall design of college unions and student-centered campus buildings and how the facilities affect the campus.

NAU worked with Cannon Design on the project, a firm that earned a second design award for Texas Christian University’s Brown Lupton University Union. Cannon also was involved in the expansion of NAU’s University Union.

The Health and Learning Center opened last year after completion of a two-year renovation that expanded the existing 46,000-square foot recreation center to a 272,0000-square foot multiuse structure, adding flexible classroom space, NCAA team athletic facilities and integrated campus health services.
