Ronald Shoopman, president of the Southern Arizona Leadership Council, and William Ridenour, founder and managing partner of the Phoenix-based law firm Ridenour Hienton & Lewis, have been appointed by Gov. Jan Brewer to fill spots on the Arizona Board of Regents.
Shoopman, a retired Air Force brigadier general and Arizona State University alumnus, will replace Regent Dennis DeConcini, and Ridenour, a University of Arizona alumnus, succeeds Regent Anne Mariucci. The eight-year term appointments are subject to Arizona Senate approval.
The governor also appointed ASU alumnus Mark Naufel to succeed Student Regent Kaitlin Thompson. Naufel expects to begin an ASU graduate program in the fall. Student regents serve two-year terms.
