Join Northern Arizona University staff Melissa Welker and Laura Jones at 1 p.m. Jan. 29 for Frontier Set’s webinar, “Creating a Culture of Evidence: Increasing Data Literacy Among Faculty and Staff.” Welker, executive director of student success, and Jones, chief institutional data officer, will join staff members from Miami Dade College and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College on a panel.
“Promising Practices Brief 6: Creating a Culture of Evidence,” recently published by the American Institutes for Research (AIR), will serve as the basis of the webinar. Participants will learn of three common challenges facing schools in regard to use of data and how three Frontier Set sites have addressed them, NAU included.
Registration for the webinar may be found online. Participants are encouraged to read the brief ahead of time and to come with any questions.
The Frontier Set began as a five-year initiative designed to identify and close opportunity gaps amongst college students. Supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the program is a select group of colleges and universities, state systems and other organizations committed to increasing student success by transforming how colleges and universities operate in order to meet the needs of diverse student bodies. NAU is one of 31 Frontier Set institutions and one of only six American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) member institutions selected to participate.
