A snapshot of Northern Arizona University’s fall enrollment on the first day of classes shows an increase of about 800 students over the same time last year.
Official enrollment numbers will not be available until the week of Sept. 18, but the year-to-date comparison as of Aug. 28 shows enrollment increases at all class levels and in all of the university’s colleges.
The largest increase is in new and continuing freshmen, up about 540 students. The university also is recording year-to-date increases in all ethnic categories.
“The early enrollment numbers are impressive,” said Lisa Nelson, director of NAU Public Affairs. “Although final numbers won’t be available until mid-September, it is fair to say that Northern Arizona University starts the 2006-07 school year with the healthiest enrollment increase in several years and tremendous energy and excitement.”
Preliminary numbers point to increases in undergraduate enrollment, up about 675 students; graduate enrollment, up 145 students; in-state enrollment, up 460 students; and out-of-state enrollment, up 350 students.
