Details on carpool and Park ‘N Ride permits

Carpool parking permit:

Two or more faculty or staff members who form a carpool may share one permit and register at a discounted rate. Carpools must register together, each person completing a parking registration form. Carpool members must provide proof of separate vehicle ownership.

The accepted form of proof of ownership is the motor vehicle registration. One person must take responsibility for the permit with an understanding that any citations issued to the vehicles linked to the permit will be billed to that person’s account.

A reserved carpool parking stall will be located in an employee or commuter lot, whichever is more convenient for participants.

To allow for situations when individuals must drive their personal vehicles outside of the
carpool, three free daily permits per academic year will be provided to each participant at no charge. Carpool participants are not eligible for any other parking permit, but may purchase additional daily permits for $2 per day. Motorcycles, scooters and all other non-licensed motorized vehicles are ineligible for the carpool program.

Guaranteed ride home:

All carpool participants are automatically enrolled in the Guaranteed Ride Home program, providing a safety net for emergency situations. If, because of an emergency, a carpool participant needs to leave the university before the other members are ready, the participant will be reimbursed for arranging alternate taxi transportation within city limits. Carpool participants must initiate and secure taxi transportation. The employee should pay the taxi company at the time of service, complete and return a reimbursement form, and include the original receipt for reimbursement. A check will be mailed to the employee’s address. Gratuities will not be reimbursed.

Park ‘N Ride Pass:

The reduced fee Park ‘N Ride Pass (Lot P66 on south campus) encourages use of alternate on-campus transportation. A Park ‘N Ride Pass allows the pass holder to park in lot P66 and ride an express van/shuttle non-stop to north campus starting at 7 a.m. The pass is not valid in other all-permit parking lots during business hours or in conjunction with disabled-access permits or institutional permits.

The Park ‘N Ride pass is not valid in AE lots or in residential lots after 4:30 p.m. A Park ‘N Ride pass holder may park in any black-coded commuter lot between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. Campus residents are not eligible to purchase Park ‘N Ride passes.
