Construction on Flagstaff campus scheduled for summer

Science Health Building

Construction on Northern Arizona University’s Flagstaff campus this summer includes improvements to the pedway and road repair on San Francisco Street.

Pedway improvements will be made between DuPont Avenue and the University Union. The first phase will begin Monday, May 16, and encompass the area between the north side of the University Union and the north side of the Science and Health Building. The second phase of construction from the north side of the Science and Health Building to DuPont Avenue will begin Monday, June 6. Construction is expected to be complete by Friday, Aug. 19.

Asphalt repair will begin Thursday, May 19, along San Francisco Street between Franklin Avenue and Mountain View Drive. Phase one will begin next week and last up to two weeks, with individuals directing traffic to allow temporary two-way traffic. A full closure of this section of San Francisco Street will begin Wednesday, June 8 and is scheduled to reopen Friday, June 10. During the temporary closures of the road, detours will be in place from McCreary Drive to the transit spine.

There also will be some minor concrete sidewalk replacements along the east side of San Francisco Street near the drop-off loop that will close a small section of sidewalk beginning Thursday, May 19.

Building managers will receive updates throughout the summer indicating construction closures and impacts across campus. Click here for a complete list of summer construction projects. Detailed maps of sitework and construction projects also are available online.
