Conference to help employees climb ‘Mountain of Possibilities’

From easing your fear of speaking in public and overcoming cultural barriers to learning about the ancient art of Tai Chi, a “mountain” of personal and professional development opportunities will be the focus of a conference for NAU employees.

The Mountains of Possibilities conference is May 16 at the du Bois Center. Registration is from April 16-30 online.

“We are repeating the morning sessions in the afternoon to give employees who can’t take off an entire day the opportunity to attend,” said Sharon Gorman, a lead instructional technologist with the e-Learning Center. “Our premise is that anything is possible if we nurture our interests and develop our skills, much like a climber preparing for a mountain adventure.”

Gorman said conference breakout sessions will cover five basic areas aimed at helping employees deal with work and life. The topics are technology and tools, effective communication, leadership, life at NAU and balancing professional and personal goals.

“We hope that attendees will feel invigorated after the conference and will continue to nurture their interests and fine tune their skills,” Gorman said.
