Human Resources has announced several benefit changes that faculty and staff need to be aware of in advance of Open Enrollment Aug. 11 through Sept. 5.
Significant changes that will occur, effective Oct. 1, include:
- Health benefits will be extended to domestic partners, children of domestic partners and certain older children who are not students (19- to 24-year-olds). Specific criteria related to eligibility for each of these categories will be shared in Open Enrollment communications from Human Resources and the Arizona Department of Administration.
- Fortis, EDS and Metropolitan Life Dental insurance plans will no longer be available. Employees who have these plans will need to make another selection if dental coverage is desired.
- A new pre-paid dental provider will be available: Total Dental Administrators Health Plan. Delta Dental will also continue to be available.
- Schaller Anderson Healthcare will no longer be available as a provider. Employees who participate in this plan will need to make another selection if medical coverage is desired.
Blue Cross/Blue Shield premiums will remain unchanged. Those rates will stay the same for the next benefit year, and there are no major plan changes. BCBS delivers standard plan changes each year and those details will be available with Open Enrollment materials.
Details about the benefit changes will be available on the Human Resources web site as they are finalized.
Open Enrollment is the only time during the year that employees can make changes to their insurance plans; change carriers, add/remove dependents and increase/decrease life insurance coverage. Changes will become effective Oct. 1.
Human Resources will sponsor an informational Benefits Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 28 in the du Bois Center.
