NAU’s Southwest Health Equity Research Collaborative (SHERC) is accepting applications for the 2024-25 cycle of its Community-Campus Partnership Support Program (CCPS). The deadline for applications is June 1.

Administered by SHERC’s Community Engagement Core, the initiative funds partnership-building activities between NAU investigators and local leaders to lay the foundation for potential community-centered health equity research projects. Since working with its first round of awardees in 2018, the program has supported partnership building activities for more than 15 teams, including several Tribal organizations and organizations with health specializations.

Accepted partners receive up to $5,000 for a 12-month project period to fund activities that will prepare partners to pursue research together in the future. The Funding Announcement includes examples of potential partnership building activities. Funding cannot be spent on research activities.

Applicants must apply as a team with at least one NAU lead and one community organizational partner. NAU investigators must be a professor (TT or NTT, including early stage investigators), research professor, clinical professor, teaching professor, professor of practice, lecturer or postdoctoral scholar and community partners must have at least one year of experience in their current position. Faculty and community partners from any field, focus area or organization are eligible to apply, though all applications should demonstrate a clear connection to health equity.

Finalized applications must include brief bios, resumes and letters of supervisor support for each partner. The partnership must also provide a detailed, two-page summary of the health equity issue they aim to explore and the partnership-building activities they plan to engage throughout the project’s timeline.

The program will run from June 15, 2024, through May 31, 2025. Participants are expected to participate in several in-person and virtual activities including an initial budget meeting and mid-program workshop.

All applications must be submitted through the digital form on the CCPS webpage by 5 p.m. June 1.
