Campus Recreation modifying employee payroll deduction plan

Campus recreation track

NAU Campus Recreation is making some changes to its annual membership plans. Faculty and staff who prefer to pay their fees through payroll deductions will need to sign up or renew their annual membership by January 25, 2016.

Rather than continuing to make payments throughout the year, faculty and staff on the new payroll deduction plan will make payments over the course of eight consecutive pay periods from February 5 to May 13, 2016.

The window to sign up for the annual payroll deduction plan is from November 23, 2015, to January 25, 2016. Faculty and staff can still purchase memberships anytime throughout the year, but payment in full will be due at registration. Renewals and new memberships can be purchased in person at the Rec Center.

Current payroll members who renew their membership by Jan. 25 will see their new deduction amount go into effect on Feb. 5.

Rhonda Powers, director of Campus Recreation, said the department’s annual audit provided opportunities to strengthen and update its processes to provide more efficient service to NAU employees.

“After researching other payroll deduction strategies used elsewhere across campus, we modeled ours after those we found most successful,” she said.

A full list of membership types and their new payroll deduction amounts can be found online.

Powers said annual memberships, including the Recreation Center/Wall Aquatic Center combo options, offer the best value. “When a member purchases the annual pass as opposed to purchasing by the semester, they are getting the summer for free,” she said.

Powers said NAU Campus Recreation provides a great deal of convenience to faculty and staff through world-class facilities on campus, a variety of membership options and the ease of payroll deductions.

“Campus Recreation strives to infuse our values of health, community, adventure and innovation into all of our program and service offerings,” she said.
