“To have a more inclusive and brighter future, we must be able to acknowledge the inequities, struggles and damage done to this community while holding space to celebrate the excellence, power and joy they embody every day,” said Destinee King, coordinator of Black and African American Student Services in the Office of Inclusion. “We hope to be able to foster the idea of embracing and commemorating our Black and African American community by sharing their stories and continuing to support the ongoing battle for justice in solidarity.”
For Black History Month at NAU, the Office of Inclusion, along with many other collaborators and campus partners, including the Black Student Union, the Office of Leadership and Engagement, Cline Library and NAU Athletics, have a wide array of events and activities for NAU community members to enjoy. Events include a book giveaway, the Black Leadership Summit, BSU Melanated Love Letters and more.
