The rates for the NAU BlueCross/BlueShield health plan will remain the same for 2009-10, but employees must re-enroll even if they are already participants.
Benefits Open Enrollment is the annual opportunity to make changes to benefits coverage. Benefits staff will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Human Resources, building 91, from Aug. 31 through Sept. 4 to assist employees with online enrollment.
The Benefits Expo has been scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Radisson Woodlands Hotel, 1175 W. Route 66.
This year the state is requiring a mandatory open enrollment, meaning all employees must re-enroll even if there are no changes to their benefits selection. In addition, all employees will be required to provide the Social Security numbers for dependents on their plans—a new requirement being implemented in Arizona.
The week of Aug. 17, the state will begin mailing out benefits enrollment guides that will contain the plan and premium details. Here are some key changes to pay attention to:
- many changes for state health plans (not including NAU’s BC/BS plan) including changes to vendors, premiums, tiers of coverage, copays and plan designs
- changes to some short term disability, long term disability and life insurance plans
- premium changes for dental coverage
As more is learned about the specific changes to the various benefit plans, employees will be notified through campus communications and mailings. To ensure you receive all information about open enrollment, be sure your home address is updated. Log in to LOUIE and go to Self Service > Campus Personal Information > Addresses.
