You may have seen some yellow school buses driving on campus with older-than-usual riders.
NAU has contracted with the Flagstaff Unified School District to provide six school buses and drivers to serve campus routes for up to two months. The university is using the school buses in tandem with its Mountain Campus Transit service not only to provide additional capacity for the start of school but also to help determine the optimal number and mix of buses needed.
“The university has a large freshman class this fall, and we wanted to make sure we would have sufficient buses to get students around campus efficiently,” said Jack Shambaugh, manager of Parking Services. “We’re grateful for FUSD’s participation in this trial program that will provide valuable information for our fleet service.”
