David Majure, a 1989 broadcast journalism graduate, will be honored during the School of Communication’s 2008 Associated Press/Robert R. Eunson Award Ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in room 119 of the School of Communication.
Majure will be awarded the 2008 Eunson Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award in Journalism.
Majure’s 20-year broadcast journalism career includes founding and managing Arizona Capitol Television, a cable television channel operated by the Arizona State Legislature. Majure also has been a longtime executive producer for KAET, the Phoenix-area PBS affiliate, where he oversees the nightly public affairs program, Horizon.
Majure has been recognized for his journalistic accomplishments with several Rocky Mountain Emmies as well as Best of the West and Associated Press awards.
Marley Shebala, senior reporter for the Navajo Times and a former news director for KTNN radio on the Navajo Nation, will be keynote speaker during the event.
Michelle Williams, Associated Press Arizona-New Mexico bureau chief, also will make a presentation.
The School of Communication’s Distinguished Achievement Award in Journalism is named for Robert R. Eunson, a 1936 graduate of Arizona State Teachers College, as Northern Arizona University was then known, who enjoyed a distinguished career as a war correspondent, journalist and news executive with the Associated Press.
