- Eric Heins has been chosen by the league’s head outdoor track and field coaches as the Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year. It is the 10th Big Sky Coach of the Year award for Heins and the third this season after earning the honor after both the cross country and indoor track and field seasons.
- Lori Poloni-Staudinger, associate professor of politics and international affairs, was elected president of the Midwest Political Science Association Women’s Caucus at its annual meeting in Chicago. The caucus promotes professional equity for women in the discipline of political science.
The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce recently named NAU alumnus Ernest Calderón, former member and president emeritus of the Arizona Board of Regents, as the 2012 Man of the Year. Several members of the NAU community attended the event to celebrate the honor. Photo by Rene Munoz About 55 faculty members from The W.A. Franke College of Business and from across the country met with representatives from Harvard Business Publishing at NAU on Thursday. Harvard Business Publishing, a nonprofit subsidiary of Harvard University, hosted a seminar meant to fine-tune approaches to teaching and learning during which faculty members participated as instructors and as students.
- Cassie Luke, area coordinator for Residence Life Freshman Connections Halls, was selected by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff as the 2012 Big Sister of the Year. Luke has been a Big Sister to her match, Izzy, since 2008. The organization said, “Cassie understands her role of Big Sister is to support Izzy and her dreams and foster her ability to succeed in life … We admire the dedication, consistency and the joy Cassie has brought to Izzy’s life.”
