  • Jason McDonald, a senior international affairs major and program host on the student-run KJACK radio, was named a winner in the Broadcast Education Association’s Audio Festival Competition. McDonald took third place in the Specialty Programming category for his show, “Big Mouth Talking,” which airs Tuesdays at 5 p.m. on KJACK, and also can be heard online. McDonald will receive his award at the association’s conference in Las Vegas in April.
  • The Department of Psychology announced it will receive a grant from the National Science Foundation for the Research Experience for Undergraduates Summer Internship program, which creates research opportunities for under-represented minority students. The 3-year, $300,000 grant will fund six students each summer to work with NAU psychology professors in conducting research in social, developmental, health and cognitive neuroscience psychology.
  •  Mary I. Dereshiwsky, associate professor of educational leadership, made an invited presentation titled, “Continual Engagement: Why It’s Important in Effective Online Instruction,” at the Faculty Development Institute sponsored by the Learning Resources Network in Savannah, Georgia, on Feb. 25.
