Northern Arizona University and Pima Community College announced a new 90/30 bachelor degree program at a press conference today in Tucson.
NAU PresidentĀ John HaegerĀ and Pima Community College Chancellor Roy Flores were on hand to provide details about the program. The NAU program is Arizona’s first in-state 90/30 program leading to a baccalaureate degree.
The 90/30 program will allow Pima Community College students to transfer up to 90 college credits to NAU toward specific bachelor’s degree programs. Students transferring to the 90/30 degree programs can apply approximately 50 percent more community college credits toward a bachelor’s degree than current two-year transfer degree programs.
“Northern Arizona University strives to bring access and affordability to students throughout the state,” Haeger said. “The 90/30 program is one more example of how our institution can work hand in hand with community colleges to deliver higher education opportunities where and when they are needed.”
Four bachelor degrees are being offered by NAU under the 90/30 partnership: a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in public management; and a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in humanities.
Pima Community College was the first community college in Arizona to offer a 90/30 degree option to its students. PCC began a 90/30 partnership with Indiana University offering a bachelor’s degree in general studies in September 2006.
