Beginning this fall, the Office of the Fire Marshal and Building Official’s Office will be joining NAU’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) department.
This move will expand the scope of the EHS department to include fire and building code compliance in addition to the already existing areas of construction safety; chemical, biological and occupational safety programs; and environmental compliance.
“We are excited for the opportunities that this reorganization will present and look forward to providing more comprehensive safety and compliance services to our campus community through this new service model,” said Scott Halle, assistant director of Environmental Health and Safety.
These departments have historically collaborated to advance a culture of safety and promote NAU’s Core Safety Values. This formal reorganization will allow the groups to more efficiently connect campus stakeholders with safety and compliance resources, and improve EHS’s capacity to address physical safety issues as they arise on campus.
