NAU Communications would like to introduce the new and improved university newsletter, The NAU Review—the official news source for Northern Arizona University. This refresh is more than just a new look, it’s a way to celebrate and inform our campus community through a variety of new features and updated classics.
Meet the team
NAU Communications, the department behind The NAU Review, is a small but mighty team made up of Heidi Toth, assistant director of communications and writer extraordinaire; Carly Banks, communications manager and our expert videographer; and McKenzie McLoughlin, assistant manager, communications and our talented photographer. We share two passions: communicating university news in the best, most creative way possible (that hopefully gets people excited to read our newsletter) and traveling (this year, we will go to Egypt, Belize, Spain and Morocco). We are thrilled to launch The NAU Review which, like the old NAU News, will highlight the research, programs and departments of the university, but will introduce a fun, easily digestible tone, engaging multimedia including videos and photos and highlight the voices of NAU—giving you a platform to speak on what’s important and relevant.
New features of the news
- Fit it in a Minute—This (approximately) one-minute recurring video series will highlight the people of NAU. Whether you want to explain your research or a recent project, the book you just published or the sports team you’re involved with, we encourage you to tell us all about it, so long as you can fit it in a minute. Would you like the be featured in our video series? Contact us with your Fit it in a Minute idea.
- Lumberjack Lifestyles—A fun, less formal outlet to showcase the personal side of our faculty, staff and students. From baking videos to teaching the Lumberjack community how to DIY your favorite NAU-related craft, we hope to add a more engaging element to our news by highlighting non-news. Have an idea to pitch for our lifestyle column? Contact us with your Lumberjack Lifestyles idea.
- Views from NAU—Here’s your chance to add your voice to the dialogue taking place in Flagstaff, throughout the state and worldwide. Whether you want to get personal by sharing your coming-out story or apply your expertise to break down a global issue, we invite you to contribute to the conversation. Interested in sharing your voice? Contact us with your Views from NAU idea.
- Humans of Flagstaff—Our version of Humans of New York, this is a Q&A showcasing the people in our community in their own words. Get to know the stories of your neighbors and the people who make Flagstaff extraordinary. Want to share your story or suggest someone to highlight? Contact us with your Humans of Flagstaff idea.
We’re still publishing the classics—Spotlights, NAU Announcements, NAU Events, research and awards—so continue to submit your news tips to the NAU Communications team.
We’re excited to hear from you and looking forward to reading your story ideas. We hope you’re as excited as we are about The NAU Review.
