In just a matter of days, our beautiful mountain campus will host family and friends of NAU students, many visitors who will have traveled great distances to participate in activities.
NAU’s Family Weekend is a long-standing tradition with a variety of activities scheduled including two new events.
I am particularly excited for the First Generation Family Reception and brunch at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. NAU has a significant portion of students who are first in their family to go to college and this event provides opportunities to learn about the university’s unique support programs.
Stew Fest has been held on campus for 20 years but this is the first time it has been scheduled to coincide with Family Weekend. People are invited to enjoy frybread and stews, traditional to many of our Native Americans students and families.
This year’s football game should be a full house, judging from last year’s Family Weekend sellout. Get your tickets now for the 4:00 p.m. game against Cal Poly and wear your True Blue.
Family Weekend kicks off at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26. I invite the campus community to come by the registration tent on the west side of the University Union to join me and other staff welcoming family members and friends to NAU.
