Kindergarten through first-grade Suzuki violin students performed for the community during a concert at Heritage Square in downtown Flagstaff on May 3.
The Suzuki program, a collaborative effort between NAU and Marshall Magnet School, features NAU students working toward a degree in music education or music performance teaching the structure and discipline of music to the young students.
The Suzuki Philosophy of Music embraces character building and the total development of the child, saidĀ Karin HallbergĀ a lecturer in the School of Music in charge of the program. “I get really excited about this performance because most of these children have never seen an orchestra or have the chance for that huge sound.”
