NAU will honor the life and civil rights work of Martin Luther King, Jr. during its 20th annual MLK celebration, “The King Legacy: Honoring our Past.”
A march will begin at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 at the University Union information desk and go to the du Bois Center with a program following at 5 p.m. in the du Bois Center Ballroom.
The program features former NAU President Eugene Hughes, who helped inspire the annual march during his presidency from 1979 to 1993.
Other speakers include Felicia E. McGinty, associate vice president for Student Engagement at Pennsylvania State University, and Tony Ross, vice president for Student Affairs at California State University-Los Angeles.
“Our Martin Luther King celebration is one of the oldest in the state and honors his legacy of tolerance, peace and equality, and his belief that all individuals have the right to an education,” said NAU President John Haeger.
