Northern Arizona University President John Haeger and Tom Jordan, president of the Arizona Community College Association, will host the Arizona Universities and Community Colleges Presidential Summit 2006 Nov. 29 in Tucson.
At the summit, Haeger and Larry Christiansen, president of Mesa Community College, will address the recommendations of the Joint Conference Committee that establish a process by which community colleges might offer four-year degrees and create a pathway that would allow a community college to become a regional four-year-degree-granting college. The Joint Conference Committee comprises representatives from the Arizona Board of Regents, university presidents, community college presidents and community college trustees.
Also on the agenda are a discussion of joint legislative initiatives for community colleges for 2007 and presentations on university and community college collaborative efforts by Haeger, Arizona State University President Michael Crow and University of Arizona President Robert Shelton.
Haeger and Jordan, who is also president of Coconino Community College, will jointly open the summit at 3 p.m. the UA Student Union Memorial Center.
