As part of Energy Awareness Month, NAU’s Center for Sustainable Environments is inviting staff, students and faculty to participate in its annual Sustainability Pledge Campaign.
Julye Evans, events coordinator for the center, said the campaign challenges participants to consider “how our individual actions affect the social, economic and environmental well-being of the university community.”
Evans said during last year’s campaign, hundreds of NAU staff, students and faculty pledged to decrease their overall consumption by 10 percent for the month.
“This year the focus is on transportation,” Evans said. Participants can pledge to reduce local traffic congestion by increasing biking, walking, carpooling and more.
“By pledging to be sustainable, participants are automatically entered into a raffle for a new bike or a Mountain Line monthly bus pass,” she added.
