  • Tom Carpenter, associate director of the Graduate College and instructor in the School of Communication, had his story, “Canoeing Blue Ridge Reservoir,” published in the October issue of Arizona Highways. Carpenter is pictured in his canoe on the cover of the magazine.
  • Matt A. Casado, professor in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, had the book Conversational Spanish Grammar for the Hospitality Classroom published by John Wiley & Sons, New York. The book provides grammar concepts necessary for learning the fundamentals of the language, specialized vocabulary that applies to hospitality operations, and a large selection of in-class exercises focused on improving student conversational skills.
  • Cline Library’s digital access librarian Todd Welch and special collections librarian Richard Quartaroli co-hosted, with Janet Collins of the Huxley Map Library at Western Washington University, the fall 2006 meeting of the Western Association of Map Libraries. Welch presented “Digitization Projects at NAU Cline Library,” and Quartaroli presented “John Wesley Powell, Surveying and Mapping the Grand Canyon.”
