KNAU’s Indian Country News Bureau has won an award for its dedication to diversity from the Radio-Television News Directors Association and UNITY: Journalists of Color.
The station, Northern Arizona University’s National Public Ratio and classical music station, was recognized for its “ongoing commitment to covering the cultural diversity.”
“The Unity Award is a significant national honor,” said John Stark, KNAU general manager. “It’s unusual for a small market newsroom to receive so much national attention. Our reporter-producers are exceptional. KNAU’s commitment to diversity stems from our association with NAU, which always places a priority on celebrating diversity.”
Only five broadcast journalism organizations across the country have received the award.
