A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies is seeking feedback at an open forum next week as part of Northern Arizona University Police Department’s voluntary reaccreditation process.
The public information session is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the Fremont room in du Bois Center, at which the team will welcome comments regarding NAUPD’s ability to comply with agency standards. The session is part of a full voluntary assessment process conducted every three years to maintain the agency’s accreditation.
The assessment team will review written materials, conduct interviews and observe office and outside work to assess compliance with the organization’s 480 established standards.
NAUPD has held CALEA accreditation since 1995 when it became the sixth police department in Arizona and the ninth university police department in the country to obtain the accreditation, recognized as the highest law enforcement accreditation standard in the world.
Individuals unable to attend the public information session may provide comments by telephone between 1 and 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 by calling (928) 774-9456.
Comments also may be sent to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement at 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, VA 20155.
