Elderhostel, the nation’s first and the world’s largest nonprofit educational travel organization, is changing its name to Exploritas to focus more on lifelong learning and exploration. The change will affect the local program at Northern Arizona University, which offers 250 programs each year.

Founded in 1975, Exploritas (pronounced ek splôr´ i tahs) provides adults with affordable learning/travel experiences across the United States, in more than 90 countries and aboard ships and sailing vessels throughout the world.
NAU has been providing educational programs for Elderhostel since 1983.Today its hosts 5,000 participants during 250 weeks of programs on topics ranging from explorations of Sedona, Prescott, Canyon de Chelly National Monument, the Lake Powell region, Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, the Hopi, Navajo, Hualapai and Havasupai nations, regional natural history, geology, human history, Grand Canyon backpacking and rafting, hiking and more.
