NAU’s Supervisors Academy open for applications

The NAU Supervisors Academy, sponsored by Human Resources, is now accepting applications. The Supervisors Academy is a leadership series for all supervisors to enhance and develop leadership knowledge and skills. This is done through experiential learning, role plays and case studies that address topics such as leadership, communication, trust and human resource skills.

The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21. The academy will accommodate 32 participants who must attend four two-hour orientation sessions followed by cohort sessions later on in the semester. All sessions will be held over Zoom. The first orientation session begins at 9 a.m. on Sept. 15.

The complete schedule can be found on the Supervisors Academy–Fall 2020 webpage. All supervisors, including those who supervise part-time and student employees, are eligible to apply. Applications should be submitted through the OnBase website and questions can be emailed to training@nau.edu.

Professional Development Sessions

Human Resources also is sponsoring a second virtual event this semester. The Fall 2020 Professional Development Sessions are developmental workshops for faculty and staff to enhance and expand current skills, engage employees in the development of a positive organizational culture at the university and further develop personal and professional interests.

Workshops cover a variety of topics ranging from computer and Microsoft skills to mental health and wellbeing. The first session on how to be a proactive leader begins at 9 a.m. on Aug. 25. The series concludes Nov. 18 with a session on communication. The complete schedule can be found on the Learning and Development webpage.

Registration is required for each class and is done through the Zoom link provided. Click the session of interest for more details. Questions can be directed to assistant director of learning and development Cassie Petit by emailing Cassie.Petit@nau.edu or calling (928) 523-9338.
