Susan Schroeder, interim vice president for University Advancement, announced she has accepted a position as executive director of the Grand Canyon Association.
Schroeder, who is completing her 18th year at Northern Arizona University, will assume her new position in July. The Grand Canyon Association is a nonprofit organization that supports education, research and visitor services at Grand Canyon National Park.
“While I am very excited about my new opportunity, it will be very difficult to leave great friends and colleagues,” Schroeder said. “I want to say thank you to everyone I have worked with both on and off campus who have shared in the university’s goal to make a difference in Arizona.”
A search for a vice president for University Advancement has been under way since February.
“Susan has been an invaluable asset to Northern Arizona University,” said NAU President John Haeger. “I especially have valued her never-ending efforts to build relationships with alumni and friends to advance the university. The Grand Canyon Association will benefit greatly from Susan’s expertise and collegial working style.”
At NAU, Schroeder served as a development officer in the former College of Arts and Sciences and as development director of Environmental and Strategic Initiatives. Prior to her positions in University Advancement, Schroeder served as a grant administrator at NAU, focusing on science and engineering programs and Native American initiatives.
